The 29-year-0ld Dragons hooker won five caps for Wales and made 27 appearances for the Welsh region. His last game was against the Hollywoodbets Sharks in January
Durban-born, Roberts moved to Dragons in 2022 from Irish province Ulster. He had previously spent a season playing for RGC in the Welsh Premiership.
An explosive front row forward he made his international debut for Wales against South Africa in the 2021 Autumn Nations Series. He marked his last cap with a try at Stade de France in the 41-28 Six Nations defeat against the French in March 2023.
“My career has been short but very sweet and I will look back at this chapter with massive pride and astonishment. I have no doubt it will leave me in good stead for whatever life has in store for,” said Roberts when announcing his decision to retire.
“If my life so far is anything to go by, I’m sure it will be very exciting. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Dragons in Newport and am excited to see what this group can achieve. I have no doubt that the only way is up and that there is a big future ahead of the club.
