Swansea had no answer to the power generated by Pooler in the second half after the sides had changed ends with the visitors leading 12-10. That was as good as it got for the home side, while Pooler went on to score four more tries with the wind in their favour.
Ioan Duggan, Sam Scarfe, Morgan Allen, Scott Matthews, Kieran Meek and Ryan Jones crossed for Pooler, while Kieran Meek converted five and added a penalty. Brandon Wood scored Swansea’s first half try and Josh Phillips added the conversion and a penalty.
The win moved Pontypool up into third ahead of this weekend’s matches, while Swansea remain rooted to the bottom without a win in their seven games to date.
Mackenzie Martin will be able to take out his frustration at not being included in Warren Gatland’s Autumn Nations Series on Bridgend when he turns out for Cardiff RFC in Super Rygbi Cymru this weekend.
Martin, capped five times this year by Gatland, will celebrate his 21st birthday at the Arms Park in a game that will be a pre-cursor to the BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Ulster an hour so so later.
Martin has only featured four times for the regional side this season and wasn’t required for the game against Ulster. Instead, he asked to play against the Ravens to ensure he picked up some game time.
He packs down at No 8 with his former Cardiff & Vale College and Wales U20 team mate Lucas de la Rua as the Blue & Blacks try to stay two points clear of Ebbw Vale at the top of the table.
“It’s the last game of the block and we are looking to finish off in style. We’ve had a good start to the season, but know we must be well prepared for Bridgend,” said Cardiff head coach Dan Fishg.
“They’ve also had a good start to the season. It’s been a tough selection this week with all the players putting up their hands and that’s a credit to them and the strength-in-depth we are creating.
“The boys have put in a lot of hard work so far and they deserved to enjoy the week’s rest before we come back to prepare for another big block.”
Scott Baldwin’s side were taught a lesson or two by The Steelmen at the Brewery Field last weekend as the Gwent club went home with a full house of six points despite playing one short for 52 minutes of the game. Their driving line maul proved unstoppable.
It will be the turn of Carmarthen Quins to try to find a solution against it this weekend as they welcome Jason Strange’s men to Carmarthen Park.
Newport will be hoping to get back on the horse after back-to-back defeats, but there are no guarantees against a free-scoring RGC side who are brilliantly marshalled by Billy McBryde.
The other fixture sees Aberavon, with only one win in five to date, hosting Llandovery at the Talbot Athletic Ground,
