The Ospreys hooker confirmed that his squad are hurting just as much as the fans in the wake of the 52-20 defeat to Australia. Next up are the world champion Springboks and the skipper says the players can’t wait to get back on the horse and have another crack.
“Professional sport is about bouncing back and we’ve got an opportunity to face the world champions next weekend, so we’re going to go out and take it. That’s why we all play the game,” said Lake.
“We know people at home are disappointed, we feel the same, and we don’t come out to lose games. We’re giving everything, we want to win as a group, so the feeling is just one of disappointment at the moment.
“We were all fans of the game before we became players so it’s tough. We’ve trained really well, we’re working hard.
“Of course we don’t want to be in the history books for all the wrong reasons, but unfortunately we are at the moment. But we can turn this around, I’m fully confident of that and in this group of players.
