The Scarlets star has received rave reviews of late both for his scrummaging prowess and work around the park.

Despite facing a powerful England pack, the 25-year-old is confident Wales have the physicality to match them.

“This Saturday is a big test for us, but we spoke this morning and it is a test we are really looking forward to,” said Evans.

“We always prioritise our scrum. I know there was a lot of talk about it in the press before the Scotland game.

“We went into the game wanting to provide a platform for the backs to use the ball and we were pretty happy with the way we came out of it.

“We thought we were pretty positive throughout the game and we are really happy with the way our set-piece is going at the moment.

“England always have a good pack. They have such strength in depth and you are never going to play against a poor England pack, but I don’t think we are too bad either.

“We are looking forward to Saturday. I am sure it will be a good test, but we are not scared or anything and we are looking forward to it.”

During Wales’ 34-7 victory over Scotland the loosehead prop packed down alongside regional colleagues Ken Owens and Samson Lee in what was the first all-Llanelli or Scarlets front row to have started a Test for Wales since 1891.

The trio have been given another opportunity this weekend at Twickenham.

“It’s a privilege to put on the Welsh jersey, but it’s nice to put it on next to those two boys,” Evans said.

“We play together at the Scarlets so it’s brilliant really and we are happy with the way Saturday went.

“We got out of the scrum what we wanted and we know England is going to be a big test this weekend, but we are looking forward to the challenge this Saturday.”
