Furthermore, even better news for the Blues was that last season’s Wales U19 Captain Sam Warburton played his first game of the season, albeit as a replacement.

The Blues were in command from the first whistle and tries from Josh Hannan, Jevon Groves, Dan Franks, Scott Andrews, a penalty try, Luke Ford, Rhys Williams and James Thomas earned the hosts, who led 17-3 at the interval, a comfortable bonus point success.

Scrum half Luke Evans kicked four conversions with Ford adding a fifth. For the Dragons, who have won only one game so far this season at any level, kicked a consolation penalty through Jason Tovey.

Team Manager Darren Joy said, “It was an excellent performance and it was great to see Sam coming back after a while away from the game.

“Luke Ford and James Thomas were outstanding in the second half whilst captain Jevon Groves was a dominant figure. All in all we are very pleased.”
