Wales know a bonus-point victory over France at Principality Stadium would seal a second-placed tournament finish behind winners Ireland.
Les Bleus arrive in Cardiff fresh from a victory over England, but Wales are focusing fully on themselves.
“It’s in our hands – we don’t have to rely on any other results. We know we have got to get out there on Saturday and get a win,” said Wales scrum-half Davies.
“Hopefully England don’t get a bonus-point win and we end up finishing second.
“France have improved a lot in the last couple of weeks and they’ve had some good performances. They could have easily beaten Ireland and put in a good performance to defeat England.
“They’re a physical team and they’re playing well, so it’s going to be tough.”
Wales started their Six Nations campaign with a thrashing of Scotland.
Defeats to England and Ireland followed, but victory over Italy pushed Gatland’s side back up into second place.
Wales have built strength in depth and evolved their attacking game over the course of the last month.
“There are fine margins when you play international rugby. Unfortunately we’ve been the wrong side of a couple of results that could have gone either way,” Davies said.
“We have shown glimpses of how good our pace is and hopefully it can give us a good platform on Saturday.
“Defence is going to be massive – a good defence wins you games and that’s what we are looking at.
“Playing France in front of a home crowd in the Principality Stadium is a big advantage. The atmosphere is always great and hopefully it can help get us a win.”
