And the outside-half stepped off the bench again to put the wraps on Pontypridd’s 53-0 victory, converting the last two of his team’s eight tries.

Rumney edged through to the next round with an unconvincing 12-7 win over Tredegar.

Cardiff won 53-15 at Narberth, Cross Keys got the better of second division Builth Wells 43-19 and Ebbw Vale ended Ynysybwl’s cup run 41-17 at Eugene Cross Park. Aberavon beat local rivals Corus 58-19, Swansea won 38-7 at Bridgend Athletic while third division Tondu saw their cup dreams dashed 25-14 by Carmarthen Quins.
