Wales lock extends Dragons’ stay

The Dragons have been boosted by Welsh international lock Adam Jones’ decision to stay at Rodney Parade for another two seasons whilst scrum half Wayne Evans has signed a one-year extension to his current contract.

The pair, who between them have racked up over 70 appearances for the region, both made their Dragons debuts in the same match in 2007, helping the side to a memorable 23-30 victory over regional rivals the Scarlets at Stradey Park. Since then, they have played leading roles for the Dragons both in the Magners League and the side’s European campaigns.

Dragons Head Coach Paul Turner said: “It is great for the squad that Adam and Wayne will be staying with us. They have both been great servants to the region since their arrival and, over the last two years, have become key members of the squad.”

Meanwhile Kevin Morgan, Newport Gwent Dragons’ international full back, is set to make a return to regional action in Monday’s development match against the Ospreys (Llandarcy 7.15pm).

Morgan, capped 48 times by his country, has been out since last June with a ruptured Achilles tendon and could mark his resumption by coming off the replacements bench.

Dragons new signing Aled Brew will be starting for the region after returning from a successful stint with the Welsh Sevens squad in New Zealand.
