Wales release players for Magners matches

Wales have released six players from national squad duty back to Regional rugby in time for Magners league action this weekend.

Blues trio Bradley Davies, Robin Sowden-Taylor and John Yapp are available to face Glasgow Warriors at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday night, Ospreys pair Jonathan Thomas – who has recovered from shoulder problems – and Andrew Bishop are in contention to face Connacht at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday and Rhys Thomas has been released for the Dragons’ clash with Ulster Rugby, also on Sunday, at Rodney Parade.

Both Shane Williams and Gavin Henson are on course to recover from respective ankle and calf injuries in time to add to the selection debate ahead of Wales’ visit to France in a fortnight’s time – although neither will return to the Ospreys this weekend .

Gareth Cooper and Dwayne Peel have returned to their English Premiership clubs, Gloucester Rugby and Sale Sharks.

The results of a precautionary scan to Blues centre Jamie Roberts shoulder should be known over the next 24hrs.
