It was a victory the top side needed to stay ahead of their closest rivals Bridgend Athletic, who made hay in the sunshine by running in five tries in a 33-7 home win over Gorseinon.Â
That bonus point victory over the already relegated basement side put Athletic within one win of the top spot – and they also have a game in hand over Builth Wells, who beat them comprehensively earlier in the month.Â
There were big wins for the top two in Division Three West, with Pontyberem running in six tries in a 43-12 win at relegated Tumble and Abersytwyth bagging a dozen in their 72-8 home triumph over Haverfordwest.Â
It means there are only five points between the two sides with three games left to play, although Crymych could still creep into the reckoning if they win their game in hand.Â
There were 14 tries for Cardigan in their 97-3 win over Amman United, who are now condemned to the drop along with Tumble.Â
Milford Haven went one better as they ran in 15 tries in their 78-0 demolition of Llangwm. That scoreline included eight tries for the wing Sam Stalbow.Â
His exploits had club officials racing to the record books to see if anyone else had ever scored that many in a game before.
That win pushed Milford into second place and keeps them firmly in the hunt for the Division Five West title. They are now only five points behind league leaders Cefneithin, and have two games in hand.
