Quins had their hopes of finishing the season with a 100 per cent record dashed last week, but first half tries from Mark Jones, Paul Arnold and Matthew Monaghan respond well.Â
But their Port Talbot-based came back from a 21-14 half-time deficit, and scores from Liam Powell and a 100th league try for Chris MacDonald ensured a nervy finish.Â
Tonmawr, having become the first team to beat Quins in the league all season, continued from where they left off, scoring six tries in a 36-26 home win against Cwmllynfell.Â
Ben Davies ran in two tries with the others scored by Steve Lewis, Hwyl Davies, Gareth John and Owain Ford.
Felinfoel won 32-15 at Carmarthen Athletic, Bonymaen beat Narberth 32-27, Maesteg were 18-8 winners against Whitland and Llangennech picked up a bonus point in a 40-17 victory over Dunvant.Â
Newport Saracens moved off the foot of the Division One East table for the first time this season, switching placed with Penallta after the clash of the bottom two at Maesglas Fields.Â
Saracens won 22-17 in a six try thriller, with Ross Madden scoring two and the other coming from Wesley Cunliffe for the home side, Penallta responding through Dale Powell, Shaun Robson and Steve Davies.Â
But it was the kicking of Ross Biddiscombe that was the difference for Saracens, with converting twice and adding a further penalty.Â
Champions Blackwood enjoyed another heavy victory at the other end of the table, seeing off the students of UWIC 78-26, Gareth Price notching three of Blackwood’s 12 tries.Â
Rumney ran in five tries as they beat Merthyr 34-16, Newbridge went one better in a 51-12 win over Bargoed, Caerphilly defeated Beddau 25-17, and Llanharan won 21-17 at Ystrad Rhondda.
