David Young fears bloodgate scandal will make their Heineken Cup opener against Harlequins even tougher.

The eyes of the rugby world will be on Cardiff on Saturday when Quins return to the Heineken Cup for the first time since the controversy.

And Blues boss Young reckons that will leave the Londoners with a point to prove. He said: “There will be huge motivation for Harlequins to put everything behind them.

“As far as they’re concerned, the less said the better. Now they want to prove themselves with their rugby.

“There’s going to be a of outside factors ahead of the game. But we can’t let that distract us. We can’t get involved in them, we have to stay focussed.”

Of more concern to Young is the injury crisis at the Blues with Gethin Jenkins, Martyn Williams, Maama Molitka and Xavier Rush all out. Full-back Ben Blair, the Blues top scorer in Europe for the past three years, also faces a fitness test today.
