Ospreys fined for breach of rules

eltic Rugby Disciplinary Panel met in Glasgow on Wednesday 12 May 2010, to hear a Misconduct Complaint against the Ospreys under the Magners League Tournament Rules 2009/10.

The complaint, brought by the Magners League Tournament Director on behalf of Celtic Rugby, concerned Ospreys failure to fulfill the Round 11 Magners League fixture with Ulster on Friday, 19 March at Ravenhill Park.

The Celtic Rugby Disciplinary Panel was chaired by Professor Lorne Crerar (Scotland) supported by George Spotswood (Ireland) and Roger Morris (Wales).

The Disciplinary Panel found the Ospreys breached the Tournament Rules and consequently their actions amounted to Misconduct and imposed the following sanctions;

– A fine of £100,000

– A deduction of four (4) league points for the season 2010-2011

Both parties, the Ospreys and Celtic Rugby, have the right of appeal.
