The Scarlets flyer will win his first cap, against the Springboks, at just 18-years-old and will partner Welsh stalwart Shane Williams on the wing.
And Wales’ all-time record try-scorer has revealed he has given the quiet North Walian advice ahead of his debut on the international stage.
“I’ve spoken to George and told him not to act any differently to if he was playing for the Scarlets, Llandovery or a youth team,” said Williams.
“I told him to play to his full potential and not to change anything. The level of intensity will be higher but he shouldn’t change the way he plays.
“He’s been selected for the way he’s playing for the Scarlets and I told him to go out and do exactly the same thing in the Welsh jersey.
“I hope he does because he’s playing well, with a lot of confidence and scoring a shed load of tries. Hopefully he’ll do that for Wales.”
It has been a meteoric rise for North who is in his first season of senior rugby. He impressed in the Welsh age grades before continuing his rugby education at Llandovery College and RFC.
He was then rewarded with a development contract at the Scarlets this summer and grabbed the opportunity with two hands, scoring four tries in his first four league appearances.
“This is the first season I heard any thing about him. But I’ve seen him play and he has gone well and played with a lot of confidence,” continued Williams.
“He’s a monster of a young man and very talented. He’s got great feet and hands for a big guy, he’s very strong and I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes.
“There’s not many wings in Wales of George’s stature and he has a little bit of everything. He’s a player we’ve been missing for a long time and is a little bit unusual for a wing in Wales.
“I played against him but he didn’t last long with the injury and we didn’t have much of a go at each other. But I do remember running up and down the touch line with the crowd chanting ‘Georgie’s gonna get ya!’ at me!
“He’s one of those players that have taken to regional rugby easily and he’s taken his chance.”
But the step-up from domestic to international rugby does not get any bigger than when your opposite number is Springbok legend Bryan Habana.
“He will be full of confidence. There’s no bigger test for him than the World champions and my old pal Bryan Habana. I’m fully of confidence with George having seen him play and train.
“He’s playing one of the best wingers in the world. But I’m sure he’ll enjoy it and I have no qualms about him coming out on top.
“As a back three me and Lee will do our best to make sure he enjoys himself, is comfortable and plays to his potential.
“They will pay a lot of attention and do analysis on him. They will be thinking he’s very strong and has pace but inexperienced and they may target him. But I think he’ll take it in his stride and perform to the best of his ability.
“He’s a very creative player. When you look at physical players you sometimes assume they’ll be used as a battering ram but he’s very creative.
“He’s direct but has gas and feet on him as well. We need to get the ball in his hands so he can get used to atmosphere.”
