Having battled hard to overcome a hugely spirited Merthyr side in the quarter finals of the SWALEC Cup last Saturday, Pontypridd must now quickly re-focus on a critical Premiership match, with the aim of defending their status as league leaders.

It was back in August of last year, and in the first game of the new season, that Ponty secured a hard fought home win over the Keys by 23pts to 15. Results since then have seen Pontypridd maintain pole position, accumulating 88pts and Cross Keys battling for qualification for the British & Irish Cup draw next season, in seventh position and on 50pts.

Ponty once more make a raft of changes from the line-up that started in the narrow cup win at Merthyr, eight in all as the coaches maintain their policy of freshening up the side for each game that comes along.
