The Wizards have won 15 of their 22 games this season. They gained a bonus point win at Pontypool on Tuesday, and need five more league points to secure fourth spot in the table. The Wanderers have had a tough season winning just three games, but those three wins have come at the Memorial Ground.

The match will be the twentieth time that both sides have met in the league with the Wizards leading the series by fourteen wins to four with one game drawn.

Aberavon have made six changes and one positional change to the side that won at Pontypool Park in midweek. Three of the changes are in the pack where Rowan Jenkins comes in at loosehead prop, Sam Williams in the second row and Aaron Bray at number eight. In the backs Ricky Thomas moves from wing back to full back with Richard Carter coming in on the wing. Ashley Beck returns at centre while Andrew Jenkins gets the nod at scrum half.

The match day squad sees outside half Jamie Davies, hooker Marc Breeze and wing Richard Carter return after they all played and all scored for the Barbarians on Tuesday evening at Richmond.

“This is our last chance to get some confidence before the playoffs,” commented Wanderers coach Matthew Bolton before the clash with Aberavon.

“We’ve made the players fully aware of the situation and the consequences of defeat in the next few weeks,” added manager Darren Joy.

For the last game of the league season the Wanderers shuffle their selection once again. In the backs Jimmy Norris plays on permit from Cardiff, Rhys Howells returns to the centre after injury and Tom Rowlands, Varsity man of the match, replaces Tim Cronin at scrum half.

In the pack, after missing most of the season, Mazin Al-Azzawi takes a place in the second row, Alistair McDonald starts in the back row and Marc Thomas comes off the bench to start at loosehead prop. Lee Highgate moves to No 8 and captains the side.
