As Official Logistics Partner of the Tournament, DHL has delivered more than two tonnes of Wales’s equipment over to New Zealand, including all training kit, gym equipment, and medical supplies.

During the tournament, the Welsh team will initially play four pool matches at three different locations, with the top eight teams overall then moving forward to play in knock-out matches in Auckland and Wellington. DHL will be working behind the scenes to ensure all of the team’s equipment is delivered on time for each match.

The essential equipment delivered out to New Zealand for Wales included items such as gym equipment, power plates and the ‘Game Ready’ – a cold compression system designed to reduce pain, swelling and tissue damage. All team training kit, nutritional supplements and medical supplies have also been shipped out to the squad’s training base to ensure the players are in peak physical condition throughout the tournament.

Wales captain Sam Warburton said: “Preparation is key to any game of rugby we play, and this is especially true when it comes to being on foreign soil for over a month. Having DHL on board as the official logistics partner means that everything has been in place for us in New Zealand and ensures that the team can focus on rugby matters.”??

Phil Couchman, CEO of DHL Express UK & Ireland, comments: “We are delighted to assist the Welsh national rugby team with their preparations for Rugby World Cup 2011 as part of our role as Official Logistics Partner for the Tournament. While each team is concentrating on delivering success for their country on the field, DHL will be responsible for vital behind-the-scenes logistics and, quite literally delivering Rugby to the world.”

DHL has delivered the team freight of all 19 Rugby teams travelling to New Zealand to participate in RWC 2011. During the Tournament, teams from five continents will play 48 matches at 12 venues. There will be at least 130 domestic team freight moves including those for the local New Zealand team, and at least 200 operational freight moves, with DHL’s dedicated vehicles travelling 30,000 kilometers throughout New Zealand during RWC 2011.

In addition to the team equipment, DHL will store and deliver uniforms and other official Tournament equipment from training grounds to playing venues around New Zealand.
