Following their convincing derby win over Newport last weekend, the Blue and Blacks outscored their opponents by five tries to one as they secured a bonus point before half-time.
Gareth Davies, Ellis Jenkins, Cory Allen and Luke Hamilton all scored before half-time as Cardiff led 6-31 at the interval, a lead they never looked like losing in what was a scrappy second 40 minutes.
Bridgend fly-half Ben Thomas gave his side an early lead with a difficult long-range penalty but from then on in, Cardiff dominated. The visitors gained a foothold in the Bridgend half and a fine backs move saw Cardiff outside-half Davies find space to show both a neat turn of foot and sufficient strength to find his way to the try line.
Davies added the conversion and kicked a penalty in the 16th minute as the Ravens struggled to retain possession. And the home side were guilty of kicking too much ball away early on save for two breaks from full back Jamie Murphy as they found themselves 3-10 down.
With the Ravens stuck inside their own half, it was only a matter of time before Cardiff extended their lead and they did just that when flanker Jenkins crashed over. Davies kicked the goal and with Bridgend prop Jonathon Thomas sin binned in the process, it completed a miserable opening half hour for the home side.
And it soon got worse. From another aimless clearance kick, Cardiff ran the ball back and a clean line break saw the ball offloaded to winger Cullen who went over under the posts. Davies maintained his 100 per cent kicking record with the simple conversion and Cardiff led 3-24.
Thomas got Bridgend back into it with a penalty before Cardiff pulled further clear. Murphy, who had been the Raven’s sole ray of attacking hope, collected a kick but saw his pass intercepted by Cardiff No. 8 Hamilton who strolled in under the posts. This time full back Joe Griffin converted as the Blue and Blacks sealed a bonus point before half-time.
Bridgend started the second period in livelier fashion but failed to make the most of their possession as dropped passes and knock-ons halted their momentum. The second-half was then interrupted when Bridgend lock Shaun O’Rourke suffered what looked like a serious neck injury. O’Rourke was stretchered from the field after a good 15 minute delay, one which extinguished what little momentum either side had generated after half-time.
The sides then exchanged tries, Cardiff pulling further clear when replacement Garyn Lucas went over following a superb pick up and pass from Jenkins. Griffin kicked his second conversion before Bridgend finally got their first score through hooker Ashleigh James. But it was too little too late as the visitors ran out deserved winners
