The Ospreys man starts alongside Jamie Roberts in the centre in what promises to be a hugely physical clash with Stephen Betham’s side.
Beck struggled with injury and missed last week’s defeat to Argentina. But after being selected by Wales interim head coach Rob Howley, he makes his home debut for the national side.
“We’ve had six days to turn things round and the boys have been really focused this week,” he said.
“The boys are excited to get out there and get things right. It was disappointing last week but we’ve got a chance to turn things round.”
With Jonathan Davies out injured, Beck’s inclusion highlights the strength in depth available to Howley. And the Ospreys man knows he must take the opportunity and stake his claim for a regular starting spot.
“There’s such talent in Wales at the minute that when you get your chance you have to take it,” he said.
“There’s a few of us out there who are starting at the weekend and it’s now our chance to show what we can do.
“Hopefully we can stake that claim.”
Beck lines up against regional teammate Kahn Fotuali’i who starts at scrum-half for Samoa. He is aware the threat he, and the Samoan team pose as a whole.
“They’ve got some quality players. Fotuali’I is down at the Ospreys with us and we all know how skillful he is.
“We know how much of a threat they are and we won’t underestimate them at all.
“It was tough enough last year for the boys in the World Cup so we’re going out there to treat it like any other game.
“We can’t wait for it now.”
