The recent full-time professional set-up at Richmond was evident in London Scottish’s approach as they stunned their Welsh opposition from the kick off.
Playing with the stiff breeze on their backs, Scottish scored two excellent tries from Mark Bright and Miles Mantella both converted by James Love who also kicked a penalty for a 17-0 lead inside half an hour.
Against the strong wind, Llanelli were unable to maintain enough territory to really threaten the outstanding London Scottish defence, led by their defence coach and former French international Serge Betsen.
Llanelli’s Owen Williams gave his team a perfect start to the second half with a huge 55 metre penalty just two minutes into the second half but five minutes later, another fine line break resulted in Jim Thompson scoring under the posts for Love to convert to rub salt further into the wounds.
Llanelli rallied and were awarded for their efforts with two late tries from impressive replacements Craig Hawkins and Diggy Bird.
The latter converted his own try but it was too little too late.
