Hawkins, affectionately known “Ripper”, represented Wales at U16, U19 and U21 level and has also featured for the Scarlets over the years.
He led Llanelli to the Principality Premiership title in 2011 and has twice been a winner of the SWALEC Cup.
Hawkins made his Llanelli debut on September 5, 2004 in a 26 -14 win at Bedwas. Incidentally, Lee Byrne made his debut on the same day from the replacements bench.
Along with current captain Adam Powell, Hawkins has been instrumental in setting the standards and values that have made Llanelli RFC such a successful club in recent years.
They will want to preserve what is a good recent record at home against Scottish as Llanelli know they must win all their remaining group games to have any chance of qualifying for the later stages.
Hawkins’ side slipped to 24-15 to Scottish last week and will need an improved performance to get one over Saturday’s opposition.
“Obviously we were all disappointed with the result last week, we played well but on the day London Scottish just had too much intensity for us,” said Ian Davies from the club.
“The boys really worked their socks off to gain the win we all wanted but when we created opportunities for ourselves, we failed to take them and ultimately paid the price.
“Scottish were really fired up last week and no doubt about it they will want to complete the double and really get back into contention in the group.
“The club has recently announced they will become a full time professional Championship rugby side and will present our toughest home challenge of the season so far.”
