Both sides won their opening games – Rob Howley’s side claiming a convincing 33-7 victory over Italy in Rome while the Red Rose edged out France at Twickenham.

It sets up an eagerly anticipated encounter in the Welsh capital this weekend, with Eddie Jones’ men arriving on a 15-match unbeaten run.

Looking back on Wales’ win at the Stadio Olimpico, scrum-half Webb said: “We are pretty happy with the result. There is still a lot to work on. We knew how difficult it would be in the first 40 minutes, but we backed our confidence and ability and finished off well.

“We watched the England game live. We didn’t go into much detail. We are going to concentrate on ourselves – that’s where the main focus is.

“There has been a lot of talk about England and Ireland, and they played some good rugby over the autumn. But we will just go about our job and take each game as it comes.”

Dangerous scrum half Webb scored a try against England on home soil in 2015, and he added: “The boys are pretty excited. It has been a great start to the campaign.

“It is a massive fixture against England. But we are not going to get too carried away. We are just going to concentrate on ourselves.”

England have won all 15 of their matches under Jones, but Wales will go into the game with self-belief after scoring three tries against Italy.

Jonathan Davies, Liam Williams and George North all crossed, with Leigh Halfpenny booting 18 points in a man-of-the-match display.

“It was a tough first half. The forwards worked hard to get us on the front foot. The conditions were tough, but we are happy with the win,” said Scarlets centre Scott Williams.

“We were going for the bonus point at the end, but it is all about building momentum now. We’ve got a big one this weekend.

“England have shown over the past 12 months or so that they are one of the best teams in the world, so it’s going to be tough. We need a big week.”
