Jason Strange wants his Wales Under-20 side to keep playing expansive rugby as they prepare for a tough trip to France in the final round of the Six Nations on Friday.

Strange’s side ran in five tries as they beat Ireland 41-27 in a thriller at Parc Eirias last Saturday.

And the former Ebbw Vale star is urging his team to keep the attacking rugby coming as they aim to finish with a flourish in Montauban.

He said: “I was really pleased again on Saturday evening. Both the result and the performance were very good, and we scored some wonderful tries.

“The biggest compliment I can give to the players is that I am really enjoying watching them play.

“That was evident on Saturday – we scored some lovely tries and played a good brand of entertaining rugby which is pleasing.

“France have been very direct and powerful in their approach. We are expecting a physical challenge. I think it will be a case of two contrasting styles.

“We want to play fast and open, they want to play a direct more structured game.

“It is up to us to make sure we ask questions and see if they can live with our intensity. It will be more about us bringing our game, not worrying too much about France.”

Wales will be aiming to cement their current second place position in the Six Nations table with a win in France.

Strange’s side have plundered 106 points in their past two games against Scotland and Ireland, with captain and centre Keiran Williams running in five tries across the tournament.

Wales beat France 16-10 at Colwyn Bay in round three last season with George Gasson scoring the only try.

Billy McBryde kicked the remaining points as they went on to secure Grand Slam glory.

Strange has revealed he will change his current team around as he continues to experiment with the Junior World Cup in Georgia around the corner.

“We have used a lot more players than last year,” he said. “I think that will be the case on Friday again. The depth of our squad means we have a lot of competition for places.

“Come the World Cup, it is a difficult squad to select which is fantastic for us coaches. On Friday we will be exposing new players again and giving them an opportunity which hopefully they will take.

“There are one or two niggles, but I don’t think that will rule anyone out completely.

“There are sore bodies. We have a short turnaround this week, we had a recovery session yesterday (Monday), and we will have one session tonight, and then it’s off to France on Thursday ready for Friday evening.”
