Pooler’s latest triumph saw them extend their lead at the top of the table to 14 points over Narberth, who were 26-13 winners at Newcastle Emlyn – the only away victory over the weekend.
Jeune’s four tries all came from driving line-outs after Matthew Jones had kicked his side deep into the Newbridge 22. Jones also landed three conversions.
Pontypool went through last season losing only one game, at Cardiff Met, and have now won 53 and drawn one of their last 61 Championship matches. They scored 115 tries last season at an average of 5.22 per game, while this season they have increased that to 5.61 with 73 touch downs to date.
Last season they enjoyed a good cup run, winning at Llanelli and Cardiff before going out to Cross Keys, and they kick off this season’s WRU National Cup campaign at home against fellow Championship side Tata Steel.
Tata are in third place in the table and notched a vital home win over fourth placed Trebanos, 25-19, last weekend. Once the cup game is out of the way, Pooler host Bedlinog before heading to nearest Narberth on 20 January.
The Otters plundered a bonus-point victory at Newcastle Emlyn, where tries from wings Liam Hutchings and Jack Parkinson gave them a 13-6 interval lead. Parkinson grabbed a second after the break and back row man Tom Powell bagged the bonus point score from a powerful, push-over scrum.
They now have to prepare to host Bedwas in the cup this weekend, while Newcastle Emlyn have the reigning Premiership champions Merthyr travelling to them. Other Championship sides with home advantage in the cup this weekend are Cardiff Met (v Llanelli) and Glynneath (v Bridgend).
Glynneath were beaten 11-0 in a close run derby clash at Skewen. The home side led 3-0 at the break thanks to a single penalty and then added another in the second half before finally coming up with a try to clinch the points.
Cardiff Met were forced to come from behind in the second half at home to beat a very stubborn Rhydyfelin side 29-27. Consolation for the visitors was they went away with two bonus points after scoring four tries.
