A packed audience of coaches and players was treated to a session on the subject of the scrum at the split venues of Monmouth Rugby Club and Haberdashers School.Â
The evening commenced with a scrum ready presentation at the clubhouse from WRU coach development officer for the region, Nigel Way.
This was followed by a practical session from Gwesyn Price-Jones, Women’s and Girls officer for the region, former Welsh international Lloyd Burns and community coach Chris Cornford. Rugby Apprentice Scott Matthews from the Dragons academy was also on hand to assist.
The session dealt with issues and techniques surrounding core stability and scrum profile. Both coaches and players were taken through a series of new and innovative skills and drills.
Just short of 50 coaches, staff and players attended and the evening concluded back at the clubhouse with a question and answer session conducted by Gwent Dragons community rugby manager Greg Woods on our current pathway structure and the game in Wales.
