Baker made 25 appearances for Swansea RFC in the Premiership, his final game of the campaign coming at the Talbot Athletic Ground against Aberavon.
Seven weeks later he comes off the bench at the Kintetsu Hanazono Stadium to earn his first international cap and is delighted to have featured in his first test game.
“It’s been pretty unbelievable,” he said.
“I never expected this a couple of months ago when I was playing for Swansea.
“It was a great feeling and a shock to be called into the initial training squad and it was nice to know the coaches were watching some of my games in the premiership.
“First day at training was like first day at school nerves. I was really excited and nervous but the boys made me feel at home straight away and didn’t feel like the new boy for long.
“It was great to then make the tour squad and my priority was just to train as hard as I could to try and make a match day squad.
“Saturday was an unbelievable day for me and it was amazing to get on the field and actually play.
“When you are on the bench you are in the mindset to play and ready, full of excitement and when I got the call I just wanted to prove myself.
“I hope I did that, I just want to keep building on training and performances.
“It was a tough game but we got the victory.
“The coaches said after the match that this is only half time in the series. We still have another match to play.
“We are expecting another strong performance from Japan who are targeting us but we will have to stick to the game plan and take the game to them.”
