The event, designed to boost business relationships between Wales and Japan, was hugely successful with the WRU showing its support for the event.
Despite being thousands of miles away from home, there were some familiar sights and sounds for the Welsh players at the event, a Japanese choir performing a series of Welsh classics.
“It’s been an honour for us to support the Welsh Government’s ambitions in developing and fostering trade links with Japan,” said WRU Group Chief Executive Roger Lewis.
“We’ve had the privilege to meet a number of Japanese companies who have interests in Wales. Through these meetings we are giving positive messages about our country.
“Wales is open for business. We’re a small country but we want to be a smart country and we’ve come to one of the smartest countries in the world to learn from Japan. We also want to maintain the links we’ve got with the companies already in Wales, the likes of Sony and Hitachi going forward, and showing that we really do care.
“The values and beliefs of the Welsh Rugby Union are of success, of excellency and to work with integrity and these are things that really touch the Japanese people.
“We want to be compelling so that Japanese companies want to come and do business in Wales.”
Edwina Hart, Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, also attended the event as the Welsh Assembly’s representative.
She added: “Japanese companies are very important in Wales, we have over 50 Japanese countries based in Wales and we have excellent relationships with them as they provide significant employment opportunities in Wales.
“It’s important the Welsh team are here playing rugby in Japan as it’s important we see everyone as part of team Wales.
“We are very happy with the Japanese companies which are based in Wales and long may that relationship continue.”
