In what has been a very successful season to date, having played their way to the semi-finals of the Morgan Griffiths Plate and having won the Dragons Challenge Cup, they will see themselves representing Wales in an International tournament in the town of Sosnowiec, Poland.
What makes this trip even more interesting is that Dawid Rubusniak a key man for the Dragons regional age grade side and a star player for Blaenau Gwent, hails from this very town.
The team leave for Poland early on Friday morning and return home in the early hours of Monday morning. The trip will consist of a visit to the notorious concentration camp that is Auschwitz.
Greg Woods, WRU Regional Development Manger for the Dragons region, commented: “Even though this will be a difficult experience for some, it is one we feel will educate the boys, especially those who have decided to take history as part of their GCSE’S.”
The players will have five games over the two days. With activities programmed in to develop their rugby skills as well as some life experiences, the tour will help them develop both as rugby players and people.
