Director of Rugby Will Sandison will have been delighted to see his side pick up a second away win of the season and they have now notched half as many wins this month, three, as they managed throughout the whole of last season when they finished seventh.

Tries from Dewi James and Dan McCormick were at the heart of Bro Ffestiniog’s 14-8 home win over Ruthin that robbed the visitors of their unbeaten run. That defeat also allowed Denbigh to leapfrog over them into second place on try count.

Flying win Aiden Jones was the home hero as Denbigh notched a dramatic 35-30 home win over Pwllheli. Having led 15-13 at half-time the home side then found themselves trailing 27-15 in the second half.

They clawed their way back to 30-30 before Jones sped clear in the last move of the match to grab his second try of the game and steal victory at the death. Dan Jones, Dan O’Sullivan and Matt Hulse scored the other Denbigh tries and O’Sullivan ended with 15 points thanks to two conversions nd two penalties.

David Lloyd-Williams, John Pugh and Rob Hughes-Jones scored the visitors’ tries and Osian Jones kicked 15 points. It was a cruel end to a battling performance from Pwllheli, who picked up their third successive losing bonus point.

Rhyddian Jones scored 14 points and Ifan Hughes crossed for two of his side’s five tries in Bala’s 34-3 runaway home win over Cobra, while reigning champions Nant Conwy slipped to their second defeat in their opening three games as they were beaten 28-16 at home by Caernarfon.

In Division 2 North, Llandudno hammered fellow unbeaten side Llangefni 45-15 in a game that was a personal triumph for the Davies family. Brothers Lee and Dave jnr ran in two of their side’s five tries and cousin Cameron kicked 20 points.

Llandudno are now the only unbeaten team in the division after Colwyn Bay were beaten 19-17 at Newtown and Machynlleth fell 25-19 at Shotton Steel. In Division 3 North, a last gasp penalty earned Flint a 26-25 home win over Welshpool, while Harlech ran in five tries in their 30-10 win over Bangor and Rhos also scored five tries in their 29-0 win at Holyhead.
