Llandovery have refused to take victory over Aberavon for granted on Saturday, despite the Wizards propping up the Principality Premiership table.

The Drovers travel to the Talbot Athletic Ground looking to keep up the pressure on Carmarthen Quins and Cardiff at the top. With the Quins and Blue and Blacks in action at Cardiff Arms Park, something is likely to give, gifting Llandovery a superb opportunity to move into the top two.

Head coach Lyndon Lewis is quick to point out the quality and experience within the Wizards squad though and says a positive result is far from guaranteed.

“Aberavon are a proud club and the current squad has a good blend of quality and experience,” he said.

“They have beaten Newport, Swansea and Bridgend comfortably this year and ran Carmarthen Quins close who are on fire at the moment. We have urged our players to ignore the league table because Simon King’s side will be the biggest challenge of the season so far.

“They will be desperate for a win and we must not be found wanting in hunger, motivation and the will to win. We must be at the top of our game if we are to take the points this weekend.”

For the trip to Port Talbot, Lee Evans makes his first league start on the wing and with Tom Ball injured, young hooker Taylor Davies gets his first opportunity on the bench. Lee Rees moves to scrum half with Ian Brooks at outside half following his man of the match performance last week. Mike Evans returns at full back as the Drovers look to continue their solid start to the season.

In the other games to take place, Cross Keys host Swansea in a re-run of the first game of the season. Greg Woods’ men were narrow winners that day and should be favourites tomorrow. At Rodney Parade, Newport and Bridgend are both in need of victories with Llanelli and Neath’s clash at Parc y Scarlets moved to Monday evening.
