A try from man of the match Rhys Patchell and a second half effort from Wales wing Alex Cuthbert guided the Blues home as they made light of being without a number of key men.
The home side led 16-7 at the break with Patchell and the boot of Leigh Halfpenny doing the damage. Glasgow woke up in the second half and got back into it before Cuthbert’s interception and 90 metre dash secured victory.
“I thought tonight’s game was a great credit to the players, we have worked hard and now we are seeing the fruits of that labour,” said Davies.
“We have been improving and to play as we did was fantastic. It was a great result and it keeps us in the group which is terrific.
“The players stuck to what we talked about and the desire was fantastic. It’s another step forward for us and the pleasing thing for us was they didn’t get a bonus point.”
Following Friday night’s win, the Blues are in second place in Pool 2, a point behind defending champions Toulon. Davies takes his side to Glasgow for the return fixture this Friday before a trip to Toulon and a home meeting with Exeter Chiefs in January.
“I thought the forwards and especially Sam Hobbs were brilliant,” Davies added.
“The way he led the side was fantastic and from one to eight up front we were magnificent. Chris Dicomidis was fantastic in his first game. Him and Filo Paulo did a great job on Alastair Kellock who I think is a superb player.
“Glasgow got back into it in the second half but we hung in there and Leigh kicked his goals which always kept us a score clear. We have momentum now and are in good shape.”
Patchell, who scored a try and kicked a monster first half penalty, enjoyed a superb return to action after time out with a shoulder problem suffered during Wales’ preparations this autumn.
He said: “It’s great to be back. The shoulder feels strong but the most important thing was the 80 minutes we produced.
“It’s a heck of a win tonight, to come away with a victory and to score 29 points with two tries against a good Glasgow side is very pleasing.
“We’ve got ourselves into a good position in the group but Glasgow are a brilliant side who play a good brand of rugby and next weekend is going to be a hell of a battle.”
New signing Dicomidis, a recruit from Premiership champions Pontypridd, played the full 80 minutes on his debut for the region.
“The physicality of the game was immense and never in a million years did I think I’d be here at the start of the season,” he said.
“It’s Roy of the Rovers stuff and I have to pinch myself at times. It was my first taste of top level rugby and I was happy to be there at the end.
“The whole thing was a bit surreal. It has been a dream of mine to be a professional, it’s come a bit later than I would have liked but I want to keep the jersey now.”
