A meeting of the Board of Directors of ERC is taking place tomorrow, Wednesday, in Dublin. Invitations to attend have been issued to Directors from each of the six rugby Unions in Europe as well as the ERC Directors appointed by both Premier Rugby Ltd (PRL), in England, and League Nationale de Rugby (LNR), in France.
Â
As a signatory of the ERC Accord, the Regional Organisations have the right to appoint a Director of ERC.
Â
RRW chief executive Stuart Gallacher resigned from his position on the ERC Board in December 2013 and is yet to be replaced by RRW, meaning his position as a Director remains vacant.
Â
RRW are urged to appoint a Director of ERC in advance of tomorrow’s meeting, and attend in that capacity, in order to effect change and/or exert an influence in any way. This action would enable the RRW Director to re-join the debate and participate and contribute fully to the important discussions that will take place.
Â
The WRU believes that the Regional Organisations are best served by being represented on the Board of Directors of ERC and working with the WRU so that the interests of Welsh rugby can be met.
WRU urges RRW back on board
The Welsh Rugby Union has, today, written to Regional Rugby Wales (RRW) urging the organisation to take up the position allocated to them on the Board of Directors of European Rugby Cup Limited (ERC) in order to re-join the debate and exert their right to vote on decisions taken by the Board.
