That leaves them one short of the 17 wins they recorded in a row on their way to securing the title last season and means they have gone 33 league games since their last defeat, by a single point against Whitland on 20 October, 2012.
First half tries from man of the match Dai Jones and Ronny Kynes gave the Steelmen a 12-3 lead at half-time. The rampant league leaders showed no signs of taking their foot off the gas and added three more tries in the second half through Dai James, Cameron Regan and Polu Uhi as they secured another bonus point win.
Cardiff Met snatched the points in a thrilling finish at Bargoed Park, where they emerged victorious 27-25. A Geraint Edmunds try hat-trick for Bargoed, and a James Beale brace for the visitors, saw the game poised at 20-15 in the home side’s favour with 20 minutes to go.
But Cardiff Met turned the game on its head with two quick tries from Sam Cross and Sam Jones. The home side hit back with a late penalty try, but it wasn’t enough as the students clung on to win.
RGC1404 thrashed Tondu 64-0 to keep hold of second place in the table. The home side scored 10 tries and there were braces for Huw Worthington, Harri Evans and Lewis Barker. Barker also added four conversions.
Narberth also powered to an impressive 63-0 win at home to bottom of the table Blackwood. The Otters scored nine tries with Ianto Griffiths slotting all nine conversions in a one-sided affair.
Jason Howells, Steve Martin and Tommy Jones scored two tries apiece to keep struggling Blackwood firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.
Tata Steel ran out convincing 34-5, bonus point winners against Llanharan at the Dairy Field. The Saints scored four tries through Ewan Hopkins, James Locke, Matt Potsuna and Gareth John, while Rhys Walker responded for the home side but victory was never in doubt.
Bridgend Athletic overcame struggling Beddau 23-5 at Newbridge Fields to keep the away side entrenched in the relegation battle. The boot of Stephen Lewis opened the scoring and a Dan Apsey try took Bridgend into the break 13-5 ahead. A second half Mike Powell try put the home side out of sight and condemned Beddau to another defeat.
Newbridge came out on top against fellow strugglers Bonymaen to put more breathing space between themselves and the bottom three teams. Leon Burgess and Louis Blacker scored Newbridge’s tries in a tight affair and 11 points from the boot of James Miller gave them 21-14 victory.
