Chance to impress for U18 Girls

The East Wales v West Wales Girls Under 18’s clash at Bridgend tomorrow gives players their first opportunity to stake a claim to represent Wales Dragons at the UK School Games in Manchester later this year. (KO 6pm)

The keenly contested encounter will follow hot on the heels of Bridgend’s Principality Premiership contest against Cross Keys which kicks off at 2.30pm.

The annual clash brings together the best players from the Blues and Dragons to represent East Wales while the best from the Scarlets and Ospreys are selected to play in the West Wales Squad.

The encounter has quickly established itself as an excellent tool for identifying talented players. Three of last season’s West squad were included in the senior Wales Six Nations squad this season.

Last season’s West captain, Robyn Wilkins played in all five Wales games during the tournament, with winger Elli Norkett also getting capped. This season West Wales will be captained by the third national squad member, fly half Hannah Jones.

Both Jones and Norkett will feature tomorrow while other players to watch out for in this year’s game are Scarlets’ openside flanker, Jennie Collins, who was arguably the best player of this season’s Under 18’s regional championship and young Ospreys scrum half Keira Bevan, who has been very impressive during squad training.

West Wales won last season’s game 29-3 in Llandovery.
