The boot of James Whittingham kept Llanharan in touch through a close first-half that ended with the home side leading 15-9. But Bargoed went up through the gears after the break and they won the second half battle 27-3 with Josh Prosser taking his match tally to 17 points with a try, three conversions and two penalties.
The other home tries came from wing Lewis Protheroe, centres Darren Humphries and Dafydd Carter, replacement hooker Lewis Lippiett and a penalty try. The only second half score from the visitors was a fourth penalty from Whittingham. Swansea maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they ran-in seven tries to capture another bonus point at Bridgend Athletic.
A tight first-half, which ended 10-3 to the visitors saw the All Whites run-in tries by Nicky Thomas and Aled Jenkins. But after the break, it was one way traffic as Stef Jones, Jake Cole, Matthew Davies, Marc Bennett and Thomas with a second added further tries. Thomas ended the game with 18 points, while the only consolation for Bridgend Athletic was Dan Apsee’s third try of the season which Scott Govern converted.
In the battle of the two newly promoted sides, Merthyr came out on top 22-7 thanks to a try in each half from wing Aaron Howard. Howard’s first score gave Merthyr a 5-0 lead in a half that saw all 30 players join in a mass brawl that showed how much the game meant to both teams.
Howard’s fellow wing Rhys Walker added a third try for the home side and Steve Lang kicked two conversions and a penalty. Glynneath’s try came from Ben Jones with Jack O’Reilly adding the conversion.
Back-row man John Daw grabbed a second half hattrick of tries for Cardiff Met as they picked up a winning bonus point at Newbridge with a 43-16 victory. Wing Pierre Tucker scored a try in each half and James Beale ran-in a sixth try to complete the rout at the Welfare Ground.
There were also six tries for RGC 1404 in their 45-17 home win over Tondu. Full-back Afon Bagshaw was the star of the show with two of them.
Pontypool centre Mark Thorley also picked up a brace of tries in his side’s 34-3 home win over Narbeth.
Centre Joe Blackmore and wing Rhodri Usher secured the bonus-point with further tries and there were 14 points from the boot of Tom Hancock.
Blackwood gave Tata Steel a run for their money before going down to a 38-30 defeat in a game that features nine tries. The home side got off the perfect start with a pushover score from no. 8 Robbie Morgan and a Gareth Walters penalty made it 10-0.
But Blackwood quickly closed the gap thanks to a try of their own through wing Chris Toddle which Scott Turner converted before adding a penalty to make it-10-10. It was 17-13 to Tata at the break before Blackwood raced into a 20-17 lead early in the second half. But there was to be no denying the home team, for whom scrum-half Chris Morgan crossed twice and Walters scored 18 points.
