This in fact is a repeat of last year’s draw which was played on 15th February 2014. On that occasion the Quins were too strong for their opponents and won comfortably by 61-6.
Bridgend Athletic are currently 9th in the Championship with 8 wins from 17 matches. Their last fixture on the 14th February was a 38-10 away win at Blackwood. Whilst this fixture is a big ask for the away team the Quins will prepare for this game the same as any other and will afford their opposition the respect they quite rightly deserve.
Neath were beaten by Championship side RGC1404 in Round 1 and, following recent league form which may see the Quins miss out on the play-offs, the SWALEC Cup may be the Quins only realistic chance of honours this season.
The Quins will be intent on reaching the quarter final stage of the competition and have fielded a strong side as follows:
Carmarthen Quins: 15 Lee Williams 14 Chris Banfield 13 Iolo Evans 12 Rhys Williams 11 Dylan Morgan 10 Craig Evans 9 Kieran Hardy; 8 Sion Bennett 7 Ellis Lloyd 6 Lee Taylor 5 Haydn Pugh 4 Aidan Laxton 3 Ian Jones (Capt) 2 Rhodri Clancy 1 Gethin Robinson
Replacements: 16 Steff Phillips 17 Jack Haines 18 Jevan Sebastian 19 Chris Williams 20 Ben Thompson 21 Rhod Wells 22 Morgan Griffiths 23 Dion Jones.
