This will be a top versus bottom encounter between confirmed champions Pontypridd and relegation strugglers Newport. The league table shows a full 60 points difference between the clubs, who have recorded 19 and four victories respectively out of 20 matches played.
The issue will of course not be clear cut as a Newport team battling for their Premiership lives come to Sardis Road off the back of a morale boosting home win over Llandovery last time out.
As Pontypridd aim to finish off their campaign with a winning run, they will have to earn that right against the Black and Ambers. In the reverse fixture back in mid September, Ponty recorded a 12-34 win away at Rodney Parade.
Having snatched a last minute win against Llandovery last Thursday at Rodney Parade with a gutsy performance, Newport will be looking to get something out of their tough visit to Sardis Road.
The Black & Ambers often turn in their better performances against Pontypridd and probably nothing less will be good enough this time.
Newport make a few changes to the team that beat Llandovery with just the one change (and one positional) in the starting pack with captain Ollie Griffiths coming in at No 7.
