Thousands of supporters have registered to watch Warren Gatland’s Rugby World Cup training squad being put through their paces in Colwyn Bay.

Registration for the event has now reached capacity and a waiting list set-up.

“We have been overwhelmed by the demand to see the national side train here at Parc Eirias” said WRU General Manager for North Wales development region, Rupert Moon

“We expected to reach capacity, but the response in the first 24-hours has been fantastic.

“We are working hard to see if we can increase the capacity for the afternoon session and have set-up a waiting list in the meantime.

“There are still spaces for people to come along to the evening Q&A signing session at Parc Eirias and there is the opportunity to see the squad arrive in Colwyn Bay on the Monday lunchtime.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for the loyal, passionate supporters’ of North Wales to see the squad here and we are trying to accommodate as many as possible.”

Wales’ Rugby World Cup training squad will spend three days in North Wales in August (10-12) as part of their preparations for the game’s showpiece tournament, which takes place later this year.

The squad will head north from Cardiff on Monday 10th August, arriving in Colwyn Bay shortly after lunch.  They will be officially welcomed to Conwy in a ceremony by the Clock Tower outside the station from 13.25.  Family friendly activities will be going on from 12noon through to 2pm around the squad’s arrival.

A full day training schedule is on the agenda for the squad on Tuesday, with the squad training privately during the morning before the sold out ‘open’ training session in the afternoon (click here for the waiting list for the open training).

In the evening members of the squad will return to Parc Eirias for a Q&A and signing session, kicking off from 18.30 and places are still available (click here to register).
