Pro Iso has been the Official Isotonic Supplier for the WRU since 2014 and the renewal will see the national squad continue to consume the leading isotonic drink throughout training and matches.
The Pro Iso range, which is made in Wales, is formulated by the Wales National Squad’s Nutritionist Jon Williams.
Williams, who has worked with the WRU for the last six years, set up PAS (Pro Athlete Supplementation), who manufacture Pro Iso, in 2006 to provide athletes with batch screened, research driven sports nutrition.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to say Pro Iso continues to be the chosen drink of the Wales National Squad,” said Williams.
“We worked long and hard on developing the taste for use during elite level sport and have listened to direct feedback from players with regard to reducing the sweetness which can be found in some drinks which can make them hard to consume during game time.
“Pro Iso is much lighter to drink while still delivering the same carbohydrate level found in isotonic formulas.
“We have also launched a zero calorie electrolyte version called Pro Zero and this range is ideal for hydration outside of training.”
Pro Iso is unique in its electrolyte ratio due to the higher potassium and lower sodium levels along with the dual source of carbohyrdates. This provides improved energy delivery during exercise and hydration.
The consumer demand and popularity for the product has led to Pro Iso launching across all Asda stores in Wales. To mark the announcement of the new WRU deal members of the Wales squad made public appearances at stores across Wales.
Wales captain Sam Warburton was joined by George North at Asda Coryton and praised the new deal. “The squad welcome the news that Pro Iso has extended its deal with the WRU as our official supplier. The drinks achieve exactly what Jon has set out to do and we are all really pleased with them.”
