Bedwas, who are currently eighth in the table have won four games out of a total 10 played in the Premiership. Pontypridd have hit a poor run of form having lost their last two league games and their home Challenge Cup tie against Bridgend last time out.
When Pontypridd last played Bedwas away on Valentine’s Day last season they were triumphant by a final score of 14-51. That was enough to register a season’s double following a hard fought 16-13 home win the previous November.
The Ponty squad is bolstered by the return from regional duties of full back Geraint Walsh and prop Bradley Thyer, with Blues scrum half Tom Williams also drafted in on the bench having recovered from a pre-season leg injury.
Two players who impressed in the Challenge Cup defeat against Bridgend last time out are retained for Premiership duties, hooker Jack Dando given a start and teenage fly-half Troy Cusack on permit from Llantwit Fardre as a replacement.
Veteran outside half Ceri Sweeney is all set to make his 100th appearance for Ponty, in his second spell with the club and a full 17 years on from his senior debut back in 1998.
