The Exiles go into the match in second place in Pool 4, two points behind leaders Cornish Pirates, but can go top, if only for 24 hours, with victory over the Green and Whites, with the Pirates in action on Sunday against Cardiff Blues Premiership Select.
The only survivors from the starting XV which lost 38-19 to the Pirates last Saturday in the Championship at Old Deer Park are Jesse Liston, Ben Pienaar, Joe Carlisle and Guy Armitage.
In the backs, Will Robinson returns at full back having recovered from the injury he sustained at the Pirates in Round 1 of the cup, while outside centre James Lewis will be looking to repeat his match-winning exploits against Cardiff Blues Premiership Select last time out, as he makes appearance number 92 for London Welsh.
He’s partnership in the centre by Guy Armitage, who replaces Thretton Palamo who has been called into the USA squad for this weekend’s inaugural HSBC Cape Town Sevens.
In the forwards, captain Matt Corker returns to the second row and will make his 236th appearance for the club.
London Welsh assistant coach Ollie Smith said: “When we get things right we are a good team, so there’s been a big focus this week on what we’re about as a side. The emphasis has been on what functions for us.
“It’s a squad effort and we’ve used the British & Irish Cup to give players game time, and in our previous pool games against Pirates and Cardiff Blues the guys selected came through really well.
“But every game really matters for us, whether it’s league or cup, and we’re always looking for a result and a performance every time we play. The next two weeks are a chance to put in some good performances and get the results we know we are more than capable of, and which we can then take back into the Championship.”
When the sides met earlier this season in the Championship at Lady Bay Sports Ground, the Green and Whites came away with a comprehensive 30-10 victory.
The Exiles have won the last four meetings between the sides at Old Deer Park, and Nottingham have to go back to February 2011 for the last time they tasted victory at Old Deer Park, when they won 22-13.
