Warren Gatland has brought the Newport Gwent Dragons flyer into the starting XV as one of four changes, as Wales look to bounce back from their defeat to England. Amos has had to bide his time as a travelling reserve in this season’s campaign, but with a tour of New Zealand on the horizon, he is out to leave his mark.
He said: “I’m delighted to be back. It’s a massive game although there is a little less pressure than my last outing. It’s huge to be back because every game is massive for Wales and I can’t wait to be out there.
“It has been a long Six Nations after being back and for with the Dragons and being travelling reserve but I can’t wait to go out there. When you are in that Welsh shirt you never want to let it go.
On the back of the Uruguay and England World Cup games I thought I was in quite a good place.
“Hopefully I can put a marker down and keep my jersey going into the New Zealand tour when a certain Leigh Halfpenny will be back in the mix for back three places as well! It’s always tough but I’m just focusing on the weekend.”
Amos bagged his first try for his country in the 54-9 triumph over Uruguay at the Rugby World Cup.
The 21-year-old has been used mainly been deployed on the wing, but sees his long-term future at full-back.
He said: “I feel I am quick enough for this level. You always work on these things and I am still a young lad even if I have played a few games. There are other facets to my game and you look at things as a whole then you are constantly working on all of it to try and improve. Speed is one of those factors.
“I think I will move to full-back in a couple of years time but at the moment I am happy on the wing.
I have played the majority of my senior rugby on the wing and four of my five caps for Wales have been there and I feel comfortable.”
