After arriving in Auckland last Wednesday, the squad have been able to acclimatize and get more minutes on the training park ahead of the first test against the All Blacks on Saturday (KO 08:35 UK Time).
It is not just on the field the players are benefiting though, it’s off as well according to Davies with the squad able to remove themselves from ‘the goldfishbowl’ and certain media negativity.
“Coming down here helps us to get out of the goldfish bowl and helps us prepare,” said Davies
“We are in our own little bubble just concentrating on our work and being as best prepared as we possibly can. I feel pretty good and training has been good and we’ve had a lot of time to settle in.
“Back home after the defeat against England there haven’t been many positives written about the team.
“That’s their opinion on things, but we know the people of Wales support us wherever we play.”
Whilst the statistics of previous meetings between the two sides go in the World Champions favour, taking on the All Blacks in their own backyard is a challenge Davies is keen for.
“They have been the best team for a number of years now and you always want to try to beat the best,” he added.
“We have three opportunities to try to beat them in this series and if we can win it will be something the boys will never forget.”
