Michael Cheika’s side have endured a tough time of late having lost seven of their last 10 Test matches.
And back-row star Pocock insists the Wallabies are desperate to show what they’re made of in Cardiff this weekend.
“It is going to be a great opportunity for us on Saturday because it has been a tough year results wise,” he said.
“There has been plenty of effort, but what you need to do is get that effort to be showing in the 80 minutes on the weekend. Cardiff has been a happy hunting ground for us in the past.
“It is always tough playing Wales at Principality Stadium. It is one of the great stadiums in the world and it has an amazing atmosphere.
“It is something as a player you really look forward to. If you look at Wales recently they have won six in a row. Compare that to our season and they are looking pretty good this year.
“We know how tough it is going to be.”
In recent battles between Australia and Wales Pocock has faced off against Sam Warburton.
But this time he will face a new challenge in the Wales back-row with the 30-year-old having been impressed by the form of Justin Tipuric in particular.
“I have loved playing against Sam over the years, he was a great player,” Pocock said.
“Sam was a great leader who contributed a huge amount to Welsh rugby. Justin and Dan Lydiate are pretty handy though.
“It is always a great battle at the breakdown against Wales. I rate Tipuric very highly.
“He gets through a lot of work and his timing is very good. The way the game is played these days the breakdown will play a big part.”
