Iestyn’s A Fully Fledged Union Man – Young
Cardiff’s head coach, David Young, has dismissed a press report that suggests Iestyn Harris might play for Wales in a rugby league international in November as pure speculation.
“Iestyn Harris is a fully-fledged, full-time rugby union player for Cardiff and I am baffled by any suggestion to the contrary.
“Some of the reported comments, including the one that Iestyn needs to play a game of rugby league to regain his confidence, are utter nonsense.
“I am pleased with the progress he is currently making. Last week it was reported that Iestyn had been dropped for our game against Connacht. The people concerned should have known better because I have repeatedly stated that in our early matches we would be selecting from our full squad. It was the turn of Iestyn and several other international-class backs to stand down. This week he is back and wearing the number 10 shirt against Borders.”
On the weekend when the rugby league match in question is being played, Wales have a rugby union international against Romania. Cardiff are currently in negotiations for a match against the Blue Bulls later that week.
