Scarlets Up For Ten Pointer

Llanelli named a near full strength side to face Neath at the Gnoll in what director of rugby Gareth Jenkins admitted could be a ‘ten pointer’, when possible bonus points are taken into account.
“Every time we play we try to select the best side possible and this is a local derby and a big game for us,” said Jenkins.
“There could be 8 points up for grabs, maybe even ten with the new bonus points system and it all adds up when it comes to those vital placings in the super league at the end of the season.
“Clubs are a year older and a year wiser now in terms of the Celtic League and this match will determine whether we a chasing the pack or right up there in the thick of things.
“We can’t go there and tango with Neath. We’ve had a chance to reflect and try and put things into practice and we’re into the reality of intense competition now with the comfort zone of pre-season well behind us.”
Jenkins is still uncertain who will play in the second row. Chris Wyatt reacted badly to his first full contact training session earlier in the week, but is itching to get on the field while current captain Vernon Cooper has a back twinge.
Luke Gross (USA) and Jamie Cudmore(Canada) have only just returned from international duty forcing the coach to keep his options open.
Guy and Simon Easterby provide a welcome boost on their return from international duty with Ireland and Salesi Finau has recovered from the injury that saw him replaced by veteran wing Wayne Proctor.
