Tens Victory For Torfaen
Torfaen Tigers played Brecon RFC in a tens match last Sunday, in preparation for their first league game following their promotion to South Division One.
Perfect conditions meant that the Tigers were able to playing good running rugby, allowing new signing Nicki Smith from Thurock to score four tries. The Torfaen forwards won good lineout ball and gained lots of possession, thanks to the strong lifting from Amy Burnett and Helen Smith, and well-timed jumping by Vicky Powell. The inexperienced Brecon team fought well throughout the match but failed to make significant progress through the Torfaen defence and missed several opportunities. Torfaen displayed good passing skills and their support play was outstanding, allowing them to increase their lead with further tries from Amy Burnett, Sharon Kirby and Kate Gladwin, resulting in a final score of 37 -19.
