Newport notched their first away win in the Heineken Cup in their opening game of last season’s campaign when they went to Newcastle and beat the then English Cup holders 34-21.
Edinburgh have lost only one game to date this season, at home to Munster in the Celtic League, and have a 43.75% success rate in the tournament.
“I am confident we can go here and win, and importantly I think the players are too. said Newport coach Richard Hill.
“The morale and the enthusiasm of the players over the last couple of weeks has been excellent- despite of the results.” added Hill.
