Warren Gatland’s side defeated Eddie Jones’s England 13-6 at a rocking Principality Stadium last weekend in what was their second meeting with the Red Rose in the space of six days.
“We knew we weren’t on our game [in the first match], but we started much better at Principality Stadium,” said the Cardiff Blues wing, a Six Nations Grand Slam winner earlier this year.
“Playing at home makes a big difference to us and we were excellent in the first 20 minutes. We played well in the Six Nations, but it means nothing if we don’t carry this form into the World Cup.
“We’ve had two tough Test matches against England and now there’ll be two hard games to come against Ireland. We are home first against Ireland and then we travel to Dublin.
“The fact we’ve still a couple of intense Tests left to go before the World Cup will stand the squad in good stead going out to Japan.”
After their victory over England in Cardiff Wales are spending this week at a training camp at the Gloria Sports Arena near Antalya in Turkey, an impressive facility which is used by elite teams from across the world.
Temperatures are already approaching 40 degrees Celsius as the players are put through their paces – in some cases doing three sessions a day. After returning from Turkey Wales will face Ireland at home on August 31.
A day later Gatland will confirm his 31-man party for the World Cup and then comes the final warm-up match – away to Ireland on September 7.
“We’ve been working very hard and these camps will allow the squad to be in the best shape possible in Japan,” said Adams, who now has 13 Wales caps and four tries to his name.
“We’re looking forward to putting in some hard work and then coming home to play Ireland.”
