Lloyds Tsb Division One Preview

There seems little chance of a change at the top of Lloyds TSB Division One this weekend as leaders Pontypool attempt to complete a double over fellow Gwent club Tredegar, but the biggest match must be the clash of Llandovery against Aberavon at Church Bank.
The Drovers coaches – Geraint Williams and Iestyn Thomas – have made two back changes recently that have worked superbly. Firstly, when free-scoring fly half Neil Clapham was switched to full back instead of Stuart Harries, who is the only player to score over 400 points in a league season.
Next, Gareth Jones was signed from Bonymaen and has taken control at fly half so well that he has scored 96 points in nine appearances.
Aberavon have had ten successive victories and are averaging five tries per match with wing Lee Abdul having scored 13 tries, including two hat-tricks, and fly half Jamie Davies notching seven tries in his 212 points.
Basement clubs Rumney and Treorchy have huge games away from home with the Zebras having conceded 46 points at home to Narberth in September and even though the Otters are on a bad run, it seems unlikely that they will slip up on their own Lewis Lloyd Ground.
Rumney scored eight tries at Llanharan last season, but times have changed and Llanharan look sure to gain the double over their Cardiff-based opponents this season. Rumney have Tommy Price returning from injury to take a place on the replacements bench.
Cross Keys are without former skipper Steve Gardner, who is on a skiing holiday, as they entertain Bonymaen, who themselves have backs Nicky Bonham and James Davies injured, but Wales cap Darril Williams returns from a bout of influenza to claim a place on the bench.
Beddau lost 0-77 at home to Newbridge a week ago. They are home again, against Blackwood, and though eleven tries might not be conceded, they will be hoping to prevent Martin Jones gaining the two points he needs to reach 200 for the season.
Glamorgan Wanderers will be at home to Whitland in a match they must be favourites to win and Tondu entertain Bedwas, with the visiting wings Stefan Sankala and Nathan Hill in top form and Paul Phillips firing over goals, though home fly half Mark Jones is in fine form for Tondu.
Carmarthen Quins will not be playing against Newbridge as a mess-up in fixtures means that Carmarthen Athletic will be at home in the top Division Two clash against leaders Llangennech.
